24th November
I’ve been Scuba Diving since 1972 – yup next year will the 40th anniversary, and I hope to make it back to my first dive site on the South end of Kerrera near Oban, Scotland
So what have been the main locations over the years?
When I first started scuba diving, I was living just South of Glasgow and after pool training the majority of my early dives were around the Oban area, the Clyde Coast and the Scottish Sea Lochs; mainly Loch Long and Loch Fyne.
Recently, most of my warm water scuba diving has been Gozo Diving. Gozo is the second largest island in the Maltese Archipelago.
North America:
I was fortunate to be able to visit most of the East Coast of the USA and managed quite a few dives from Maine all the way down to Key West in Florida.
Bonaire:
I’ve had several visits to Bonaire in the Netherland Antillies, most recently in 2005
Crete:
2005 was my most travelled year with diving in Scotland, Gozo, Bonaire and week long photography trip where I also to managed to squeeze in couple of dives in Crete.
Grand Cayman:
After my first warm water diving in the Florida Keys, the next destination was Grand Cayman.
Norway:
Early in my diving career I was lucky enough to spend a couple of days in Norway and linked up with a local sub-aqua club. I only managed the one dive, but it has remained one of my favourites.
Red Sea:
Unlike most UK divers, I’ve only visited the Red Sea once, and that was a few years ago before my family came along. I suppose we gravitated back to Gozo a lot as it was much more family friendly.
